KOSOVO - BOSNIA - JANUARY 2003
This is Donna, Rick and I after getting off of the Blackhawk Chopper Ride from Eagle Base to Camp Butmir.! This was quite an experience for all of us since none of us had ever ridden on a Chopper before!

Unfortunately, we had to have an armed escort everywhere that we went on most of this trip........this does make you feel a bit uneasy but better safe than sorry!
The kids in the picture are from a local school in Bosnia. They came and were given a meal and then treated to a Magic Show and we also had time to make balloons for all of them. Some of the schools in Bosnia do not even have the basics, such as heat etc....very, very sad......

This shows a very small part of Camp Bondsteel - Kosovo. The large black building in the middle is command headquarters where all of the decisions are made.
OK....this is Coleman Gray...a very friendly guy who really liked the show and he was so nice to show us around the camp....he even showed us to the Karaoke night! We really had a blast with you Coleman!

Our trip to Kosovo could never have happened without the help of Barry Rumsey our MWR Coordinator! He advertised the shows and set the theatre in place and picked us up at the airport plus a hundred other things! Thank you Barry! Smooth Sailing is so nice!
In between Kosovo and Bosnia we stayed for a couple of nights at Ramstein Air Base in Germany. We were lucky enough to meet up with Major Mark Karas and we ended up having dinner with him and what a great and funny evening! Next time we are at S.H.A.P.E. we will look you up!!

Going to Ramstein Airbase we took a Military Flight on a C-130 which is something that I have never experienced and I must say that it was one of the smoothest rides and landings ever! Thank you Air Force!
When we arrived in Bosnia we were greated by this man ....Mac (Allen McNeill) and what a greeting! Mac was our MWR contact for Bosnia and he advertised the shows and truly made us so comfortable! I can't remember the last time I laughed that hard!! Keep up the great work Mac! We love you man!!!!
This is one of the many homes in Bosnia that has bullet holes in it. This is a good representation of the majority of homes there. This is truly a sad situation.
We also found some homes totally destroyed in Bosnia. The people have been through an awful lot and are trying to rebuild. Let's just hope that History does not repeat itself.
This was one of the saddest places that we went. This was a shoe factory pretty close to Sarajevo. Muslims were brought here by the thousands and then killed.
The one very great part of our tour was our driver in Bosnia! This is Road Rage Rudy !!! Rudy, Thank you for all you did for us and for all your kindness! As always, you are THE BEST!! Rick, Donna and I send all our love!
